Mari-mari cultural village in Sabah

hello guys, this is mari mari cultural village in sabah.
Sabah is the east side of Malaysia which took 3 hours flight from the northern west side of malaysia to get there.
this is one of the place that i enjoy most~the cultural village

we stayed in Kota Kinabalu city park lodge, so we charter a car to our destination. to and fro Rm220 because the place is about one hour from our hotel, and we're going three places with that amount of money.
i suggest people to NOT tie down with tour packages because they charged you Rm170 PER person and to ONLY ONE freaking place.
not worth it, find a driver outside and charter his car like us, is more up to the money

this cultural village entrance fee is Rm80 per person and they provide you with light meals by the end of the day. you have a tour guide too during your whole visit.

inside the cultural village
they have about 6 different type of tribe houses, so you get experience different cultural inside each houses.

mummy had a go with the musical instruments

after that we were brought to this booth where we were taught how to make our own dish by using bamboo to cook!
haha, each family had one bowl, so i just dig it in to every ingredient they have. it was quite fun!

mummy helping me to put the seasoning~salt, ginger and sugar.

and i had a taste of rice wine!
and also a taste of pandan juice with ginger. Pandan is lemon grass ~

one of the tribe long house.

okok, i need to show you guys this even though my face looks really ugly here.
most of the tribe houses had an upstair special bedroom for their singled virgin daughters. whenever they want to sleep, they carry this ladder up to their bed because the tribe members are HUGE drinkers. they're afraid they become drunk and simply simply do things with the girls in the house.
interesting eh?

vest making just from a tree bark

the marriage decoration in one of the houses.

they even made a tattoo for me! but it sort of fall apart after one night. not to mention my rashes itches like mad after that.

tadaa, close shots. love how my camera manage to do the blurring background.

after visiting all six houses, we were place to watch their performances. after that, they teaches us this epic cultural dance. really fun

you see, you must watch your steps not to get the bamboo crushed your feet. so you must have a really great sense of coordination with it.

tadaa~ and by the end of the day, my bamboo making food were also served as a side dish for our meals.
i put too much ginger and garlic i think that i can only manage a bite of it.

one last pic of my dad posing with one the huge houses.

this is a MUST SEE destination for those who wants to go to Sabah for a tour.
i highly recommend it!

xoxo
Ann

ps: my hives spots become lighter, but it still itches like mad, plus, there are new spots on other places too!
oh man~~
